The ministry of St. Dysmas is made possible through the
combined efforts of close to 60 registered volunteers made up of clergy
and laity. St.
Dysmas has a called pastor whose responsibility is to maintain the
organization of the congregation and help relate the
ministry to congregations of the DE-MD Synod and Metro DC Synod.
Volunteers for St. Dysmas are
asked to do more than just visit in the prison.
Our volunteers are worship leaders, provide music at worship, lead Bible
studies, and assist with financial record keeping. Volunteers also serve to testify to the
ministry in their local congregations enabling awareness of St. Dysmas’ witness
among the incarcerated.
